Japan Expresses Extreme Concern and Halts Funding to UNRWA Amid Allegations

Japan introduced late on Sunday that it’ll droop further funding to the United Nations’ company for Palestinians in Gaza whereas the company investigates an allegation that its employees was concerned within the Oct. 7 assault on Israel.

Japan expressed “excessive concern in regards to the alleged involvement of UNRWA employees members within the terror assault on Israel” and has been “strongly urging UNRWA to conduct the investigation in a immediate and full method,” the international ministry acknowledged.

UN officers have appealed to international locations, together with prime donors the US and Germany, to rethink their funding pauses for UNRWA. Japan is the sixth largest donor to the company, in line with UNRWA’s 2022 knowledge.
