Asghar Sepehri, the brother of Fatemeh Sepehri, a pro-monarchy political prisoner currently held in Vakilabad Prison, Mashhad, expressed concerns about his sister’s health in a recent post on the social network X. “Today, December 19, the family had a cabin meeting with Fatemeh Sepehri. Her health condition is worrying,” he wrote.
According to Asghar, Fatemeh is suffering from high heart rate due to psychological pressures exerted by prison officials. He stated that the prison infirmary only provides her with injections and sleep-inducing drugs. Fatemeh reportedly cannot sleep due to severe pain in her left hand and is unable to move her fingers. Despite a surgeon’s recommendation for physiotherapy three weeks ago, no action has been taken by the head of the women’s section, Leila Raminfar, and her deputy, Rahimzadeh.
Additionally, Asghar mentioned that Fatemeh has reported eye pain and dryness to the prison authorities, but they have refused to send her for a specialist examination. This account raises serious concerns about the treatment and well-being of political prisoners in Iran, highlighting the need for immediate attention and intervention by human rights organizations.
