A merchant ship in the Indian Ocean was damaged by a drone strike, but fortunately, there were no casualties, as reported by two maritime agencies through news agency AFP. The incident involved a vessel linked to Israel.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations of the British military and maritime security firm Ambrey reported that a merchant vessel was struck by an unmanned aerial vehicle off India’s Verval.
The vessel, which was described as the “Liberia-flagged chemical/products tanker,” was reportedly Israel-affiliated. The reports also mentioned that the drone strike caused “some structural damage” and led to water entering the vessel. It was further noted that the vessel had last called Saudi Arabia and was en route to India at the time of the incident.
