Negar Kourkour announced on his Instagram page that the execution sentence of his brother, Mujahid Kourkour, has been confirmed by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court in Ahvaz. Mujahid Kourkour had been accused by the Islamic Republic’s judiciary of killing Kian Pirfalak during the protests in Izeh. However, Kian’s father, Meysam Pirfalak, stated in a video message that he and his wife witnessed security forces, led by Commander Eidivand Alipour, shooting at their car, injuring him and killing his son, and he does not accuse Mujahid Kourkour and the youths of Izeh.
Furthermore, according to the human rights platform Dadban, Branch 17 of the Supreme Court confirmed the execution sentence of Reza Rasaei. The 34-year-old protester from Kermanshah was convicted of the willful murder of Nader Birami, the head of the intelligence office of Sahneh County, and sentenced to death in October 2023.
Dadban reported significant discrepancies in the verdict against Reza Rasaei, highlighting issues such as reliance on forced confessions, deliberate ignoring of testimonies favoring Rasaei, acknowledgment of flaws in the preliminary investigation, disregard for the forensic medical expert opinion, and particularly the court’s reliance on judicial knowledge to prove guilt. These points have raised serious concerns about the fairness and integrity of the trials and the sentences.
