United Nations Reports Continued Israeli Air Strikes in Gaza

Women at Al-Aqsa hospital in central Gaza mourn their loved ones killed in an Israeli strike on the Al-Maghazi refugee camp on Sunday, as Hamas claims. The ongoing Israeli air strikes in Gaza continue to overwhelm hospitals, making it difficult to treat the injured. Gemma Connell of the UN humanitarian agency OCHA described what she saw at the Al-Aqsa hospital in central Gaza on Monday as “absolute carnage” with many severely injured individuals unable to receive treatment due to the overwhelming number of patients. Israel’s prime minister has vowed to intensify the fight against Hamas, asserting that the military campaign is far from over. Additionally, an estimated 150,000 people in central Gaza have received evacuation orders from the Israeli military, according to Tom White, director of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees UNRWA. Connell also witnessed new air strikes hitting areas around the hospital, further emphasizing the lack of safe places in Gaza. The war began on October 7 and the death toll continues to rise, mainly affecting civilians, children, and women. Both Israel and Hamas have resisted calls for a ceasefire, despite proposals for a truce.
