Japan and EU Extend Congratulations to William Lai on his Election as President of Taiwan

Japan provided congratulations for Lai Ching-te’s election as president of Taiwan and the sleek implementation of the democratic election, Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa stated in an announcement on Saturday.

The European Union “welcomed” Taiwan’s presidential election Saturday and “congratulates all of the voters who participated on this democratic train”, an announcement stated, with out mentioning president-elect Lai Ching-te.
