Hunter Biden, the son of the US President, appeared before reporters outside the US Congress building on Thursday and stated that he is not willing to answer the House Oversight Committee’s questions about his own and his father’s activities. This committee is engaged in an investigation that could lead to the impeachment of Joe Biden, the US President.
Despite being summoned to testify, he said he will refrain from doing so and has no legal obligation to do so.
The House Oversight Committee meeting was supposed to be held behind closed doors. The son of the US President said he will not go before this committee and that if there are any questions, they should be raised publicly, in an open session.
According to the New York Post, Republican Congress members plan to seek formal approval on Thursday evening to expand the scope of the investigation into the past activities of Joe Biden and his family.
In another part of his remarks, Hunter Biden claimed that Republicans have repeatedly lied about all aspects of his personal and professional life.
Previous reports have indicated that the House Oversight Committee’s investigation shows that the Biden family and their business partners received at least $20 million from foreign sources.
Despite Hunter Biden’s claims on Thursday, there is evidence that Joe Biden had meetings with some of his son’s business associates, contradicting Joe Biden’s repeated claims that he never discussed their business activities with family members.
