UN chief says Israeli offensive causing aid distribution ‘obstacles’ in Gaza as strikes continue

The military offensive by Israel is creating significant obstacles to the distribution of humanitarian aid in Gaza, according to the UN chief. The UN security council has called for increased humanitarian assistance for Gaza, but Israel’s military operations are impeding aid distribution in the battered territory. The recent resolution passed by the security council on Friday urged action to allow safe and expanded access for the delivery of aid to Gaza and to facilitate a sustainable cessation of fighting. António Guterres, the UN Secretary General, expressed concerns about the current military operations being conducted by Israel, citing that it is creating substantial obstacles to aid distribution within Gaza. Despite the ongoing conflict, Israel claims to have allowed more than 5,405 aid trucks carrying food, water, and medical supplies to enter Gaza. Meanwhile, fighting continues, with reports of bombings, artillery bombardments, and casualties in the region.
