New Case Opened in Iran Against Recently Released Female Journalists for Appearing Without Hijab – JURIST

The Mizan News Agency reported Monday that the Iranian judiciary launched a brand new case towards journalists Niloofar Hamedi and Elaheh Mohammadi following their launch on bail. The two had appeared in entrance of a crowd outdoors the jail with out sporting the hijab, prompting these new prices.

In October 2023, Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced Hamedi to 13 years in jail and Mohammadi to 12 on varied prices, together with collaboration with the US authorities, colluding to commit crimes towards the nation’s safety and propaganda towards the institution of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
