Japanese politician Tanigawa steps down following scandal involving political funds

A member of Japan’s Lower House, Tanigawa Yaichi, has determined to step down from his place as a lawmaker attributable to accusations of violating the political funds management legislation.

Last week, Tanigawa left the primary ruling Liberal Democratic Party after being indicted in reference to a political funds scandal involving the LDP’s Abe faction, of which he was a member. The faction was beforehand led by the late Prime Minister Abe Shinzo.

According to the general public workplace election legislation, a by-election should be held if a lawmaker resigns. It is probably going that Tanigawa’s constituency in Nagasaki Prefecture will maintain a by-election in April.
