The solid for the world premiere of Hanif Qureshi’s “The Buddha of Suburbia” has been accomplished.



London News Cast introduced for world premiere of Hanif Qureshi’s “The Buddha of Suburbia”

Written and directed by Emma Rice, who performs the Swan in a co-production between Wise Children and the RSC.

Casting has been accomplished for the world premiere manufacturing of Hanif Kureishi’s The Suburban Buddha, a co-production between Wise Children and the Royal Shakespeare Company and tailored by Wise Children Artistic Director Emma Rice with Qureshi.

“Hanif Qureshi’s debut novel ‘The Suburban Buddha’ is a messy, humorous and indignant love letter to household, theater and music,” Rice stated in an announcement. Funny and tender, this groundbreaking story is stuffed with revolt, confusion, love, and acceptance.

“I could not be extra excited to work with my hero Hanif Qureshi in remodeling his literary masterpiece into a pleasant piece of theater. As the daybreak of a brand new period lights up the swan stage. , Buddha guarantees to be as dashing, soiled, subversive, and hopeful as theater needs to be.”

Kureishi added: “I’m actually excited that Emma Rice will adapt my novel for the Royal Shakespeare Company. When mixed with the backdrop of the play and the partial setting of the novel, the result’s a vibrant and provocative work.”

The manufacturing contains set design by Rachana Jadhav, costume design by Vicki Mortimer, sound and video design by Simon Baker, lighting design by Jay Morjaria, music by composer Niraj Chugh, and choreography by Etta Murfitt. Kev McCurdy would be the fight director, and casting may even happen. Written by Matthew Dewsbury.

The upcoming productions will kind a part of Daniel Evans and Tamara Harvey’s first season as RSC co-artistic administrators.
