LIMA, Peru — Peruvian police introduced Friday that they’ve arrested an Iranian nationwide who’s a member of Iran’s Quds Force and is suspected of plotting to kill Israelis within the South American nation.
Majid Azizi, 56, was arrested in Lima on Thursday together with two Peruvian nationals, General Oscar Arriola, Peru’s police chief, stated in a press convention.
He stated police have been nonetheless trying to find a 3rd Peruvian man believed to be liable for the Israeli man’s homicide.
Arriola stated Azizi arrived in Lima on March 3 and was tipped off about him by international intelligence providers.
The Quds Force is an elite unit of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards that oversees international operations.
Arriola stated Azizi was arrested after withdrawing cash from an ATM and can stay in jail for the primary 15 days on terrorism prices, together with two different Peruvians who have been arrested.
The basic stated the person supposed to return to Iran the day he was captured.
Azizi is alleged to be married to a Peruvian lady.
