About the exhibition
The Center for Arts and Culture on the Middle East Institute has partnered with Tribe Magazine to current Louder Than, a images exhibition that explores the work of ten feminine photographers from the Arab world and Iran who seize resilience, creativity, and humanity. We warmly invite you to the Opening Night Reception for “Hearts.” Women on this area usually face nice adversity.
Louder Than Hearts reveals the position of each the photographer and his protagonist as pioneers and catalysts of change of their communities, providing a portrait of Middle Eastern ladies as voices of peace, braveness, and hope. Leading photographers from Egypt, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Saudi Arabia and Yemen discover the various experiences and private tales of girls throughout an enormous geographic space.
The title is taken from a set of poems about love and loss by Lebanese poet Zeina Hashem Bek.

The night will characteristic a chat with curator and award-winning photographer Rania Matar, herself a taking part artist, about her imaginative and prescient for the exhibition, the works on show, and her personal follow. Masu.

About the curator
Born and raised in Lebanon, Rania Matar immigrated to the United States in 1984. She is a Lebanese-born Palestinian/American artist and her mom Matar’s cross-cultural experiences and her private tales affect her images. Her work captures intimate moments that transcend borders and cultures, exploring themes of particular person and collective id by images of girls within the United States and the Middle East. Matar’s work has been extensively exhibited in museums all over the world, together with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Carnegie Museum of Art, National Museum of Women within the Arts, Washington, DC. Minneapolis Institute of Art; Institut Arab Monde, Paris. Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and so forth. Her images are within the everlasting collections of a number of museums.
