(Colorado Springs) —Pikes Peak State College (PPSC) has acquired $300,000 in state funding to boost its profitable cybersecurity program.
This funding was authorized by the Colorado Legislature to advance training and workforce growth within the crucial area of cybersecurity. The funding builds on the muse laid by Senate Bill 18-086, which initially allotted $1.5 million to ascertain and develop PPSC’s cybersecurity coaching initiatives in collaboration with native companions.
“We’ve expanded our applications dramatically, and a key a part of constructing the pipeline is that about 10 % of our college students are concurrently enrolled,” stated PPSC President Lance Bolton. “We’re giving highschool college students the chance to interact in careers that they’ll actually leverage sooner or later.”
Over the previous 5 years, PPSC has doubled enrollment in cybersecurity programs, awarded 82 cybersecurity certifications, and offered $30,000 in scholarships to cybersecurity college students. Overall, cybersecurity graduates have earned $17 million over the previous 5 years, with a mean wage of $65,000. Approximately 670 college students are enrolled in PPSC’s cybersecurity and pc science applications.
“Thanks to state help, PPSC has been capable of modernize classroom expertise, rent top-notch college, and develop dynamic partnerships with trade stakeholders,” says Mike Krakow, program director for PPSC’s Cybersecurity Program. “Our give attention to giving college students real-world expertise has been particularly useful.
