Iran has launched Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi, who has been imprisoned since November 2021, for 3 weeks on medical grounds, her lawyer posted on social media.
“Based on the recommendation of his physician, the prosecutor suspended Narges Mohammadi’s jail sentence for 3 weeks and launched him,” Mostafa Nili informed the X program.
Mohammadi’s household and supporters shortly issued a press release protesting that three weeks of medical depart was not sufficient.
“The 21-day suspended sentence for Narges Mohammadi is inadequate. We demand his rapid and unconditional launch, or no less than a three-month extension of his depart,” they mentioned in a press release.
Over the previous quarter century, Mohammadi, 52, has been repeatedly tried and imprisoned for vocally campaigning in opposition to Iran’s widespread use of the demise penalty and obligatory costume codes for ladies.
