CANS, France (AP) — A significant blackout in southeastern France on Saturday disrupted visitors and briefly halted occasions on the Cannes Film Festival.
Approximately 160,000 households within the Alpes-Maritimes division misplaced energy after excessive voltage strains fell on Saturday morning, energy community operator RTE stated on X.
Organizers on the Cannes Film Festival confirmed that the outage affected early actions on Saturday, saying that the Palais des Festival, the principle venue in Croisette, has switched to an impartial energy supply.
“All scheduled occasions and screenings, together with the closing ceremony, will proceed as deliberate and beneath regular situations,” the assertion stated. “At this stage, the reason for the outage has not but been recognized. A restoration effort is underway.”
